2 Person Team Rule Adjustments

Following is a description of each timed event. After completing these four events, the top 50% of the 2 & 4 person teams (not to exceed fifteen (15) teams per group) and the winners of the Wild Card Event (2 & 4 person) will advance to compete in the Relay.

METER SET- Fastest Time Wins

An assortment of fittings, service regulator, meter and meter gaskets will be available in a tote box. There will be extra fittings in the box that will not be needed. Pipe dope is not required. The meter set must be wrench tight, level and set to National Gas Rodeo standards. Gloves are not required for this event. Event is finished when Designated Person (wearing wristband) raises one or both hands. If the event is not finished, the team will receive the slowest time plus 20 seconds as their score.

SERVICE INSTALLATION- Fastest Time Wins

In this event, the team will install a service line with tracer wire from the 2” plastic main to the service riser bracket. This event will consist of 50’ of ½” plastic polyethylene pipe, approx 60’ of tracer wire, 2 x 1/2” plastic mechanical service punch tee, ½” perma sert coupling, ¾”x½”cts anodeless gas riser and tools to install service.

PIPE CUT - Fastest Time Wins

A four-inch length piece of 6 inch-.250 wall pipe will be cut using only the mechanical 4-wheel cutter provided. Teams must provide and use their own HS8-12 cutter wheels if they will be using the Rodeo supplied cutter. Cutters are closed prior to start of event and teams must have wheels loaded.

HAND DIG - Fastest Time Wins

There are five 4 inch yellow dots in the box, one in each corner and one in the center. A portion of each dot must be exposed. Teams will be allowed up to 5 minutes to empty the box. A mix of sand and "pea gravel" will be used. The mix is approximately 50/50.

WILD CARD EVENT

For those teams not qualifying for the Rodeo Relay, the National Gas Rodeo offers an opportunity to earn your way back into the Relay through a Wild Card event. All (2 or 4 person) teams that were not qualified to compete in the Rodeo Relay are eligible to participate in the Wild Card event.

This offers your team the opportunity to earn a chance at competing in the Relay, including the possibility of winning the Rodeo! This will be a single mystery event and the event will change annually.

The Wild Card event will take place during the Rodeo Relay, with the winner of the Wild Card event being the final competitor in the Relay (again, both 2 and 4 person teams).
